Tent City 3 returns to Calvin Presbyterian Church
Greater Seattle Cares, a faith-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was established in 2005 to provide a vehicle for local communities to connect with Tent City 3 for the provision of the residents’ daily needs and to facilitate their transition to independent living.
TC3 moves to Calvin Pres. Church (3rd NW & Richmond Beach Road) on Nov. 17 till Feb. 16, 2013. There are usually between 80 to 100 people in residence at the camp.
Lisa and Jan Allen are members of Calvin Pres. Church as well as Innis Arden Community. We would like to provide a way for IA community members to be involved thru a Muffin Brigade…providing breakfast muffins to the camp. If you would like to help by providing a dozen muffins, we will make it easy for you. You bake and we will be happy to come pick up the muffins and deliver them. Tent City will be at Calvin for 3 months and it would be great if we could provide muffins several times during their stay–once a month or more if we get the community support. Please call, text or email Lisa if you are able to participate in this service to Tent City 3.
If you would like to make donations of items, food, or money, you can check out their web site at www.greaterseattlecares.org for a list of items needed. You can also give these items to Lisa and Jan and they will deliver them to the camp. If you are going thru your closet and have some gently used warm clothes or coats, those would be perfect. The web site gives suggestions of needed items that you could pick up the next time you are at the grocery or drug store. If you want to drop items off at the church, there is a bin in the Fellowship Hall for TC3 or you can bring items directly to the camp.
Text or call Lisa at 206-369-4038 or email lcallen@aol.com. No donation is too small. Thank you.
