Blockwatch, Board Position Opening, Shoreline Community College, and more

Theft

8/20– I left my wallet in my trousers pocket while swimming for half an hour at the Innis Arden pool.  I returned to the locker room to find that the wallet had been removed from the pocket and all the cash stolen.  Credit cards and license were left untouched.  I reported the theft to the life guards — but resident swimmers should beware.

Robbery

8/28– There was attempted robbery on 8th NW.  A neighbor said the perpetrator was a large, white male with an accomplice.  The accomplice knocked on the door and when no one answered the guy broke in the back…window or door… The accomplice was waiting down the street in a white Cadillac.  Police were called.

Unlicensed Solicitor

8/29 – A tall lanky, 20-something redheaded man on 12th was observed going into a mailbox and then over to a house. He said a friendly ‘hello’ and I assumed he lived in the house on 12th. When we were home an hour later the doorbell rang and there he was canvassing for donations to send care packages to military personnel. He was pushy. After he left, my next door neighbor called to ask if he had come to my door and said he had asked to see his permit (none) and that his website did not check out. I did not make the connection that he was the same kid looking in mailboxes until later.

Trespassing

9/1 – Man was observed hoisting himself over a 6 foot fence carrying a sleeping bag or blanket. He was white and about 30.

Board Position Opening

Aaron Bush will soon be moving out of Innis Arden.  His board position is opening up.  While one Innis Arden resident has already expressed interest in serving in the position, the board wants to make sure that the community knows that any Innis Arden resident may serve on the board.  They can contact anyone on the board about this position and how to apply.

Shoreline Community College Meeting

As part of an ongoing strategic planning process, Shoreline Community College is hosting a community focus group from 4-6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, in the PUB (9000 Building) Quiet Dining Room (Room 9208). This is an opportunity to tell the college what it is doing well, where it could improve and understand how it can better-serve the community.

Leading the focus group will be Tom Mesaros, Senior Counsel with The Alford Group, a Seattle-based consulting firm hired by the college to assist in the strategic planning process.

Light refreshments will be available and parking is free.

(Note: Free parking is new as of Sept. 8. After 4 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends will be free.)

Can you help us get the word out to your neighbors?
